Personal Strategic Planning
Inspirations can be timely and come from surprising places – I was hit with one last week.
Penticton BC hosted it’s 28th annual Ironman Competition on August 29th and I for the first time in my life I knew a couple who were participating - an average, middle-aged couple who decided just over a year ago to make the Penticton Ironman Competition their personal goal for 2010.
This particular Ironman is one of the more grueling events of its kind – a 2.4 mile (3.8km) swim in 68F degree water – a 112 mile (180 km) bike ride and a complete 26.2 mile (42.2 km) marathon to be completed in a 17 hour day. In all, 2731 people finished the race, our friends among them.
Competing in an Ironman competition is NOT among my personal goals – in my wildest imagination I cannot picture myself pounding my way over that particular finish line. But I have been inspired nonetheless.
In preparing my recent to-do list I have found my mind wandering past weekly goals to greater things – things I would like to accomplish in the future. Dreams – goals – plans. Time waits for no man – if there was a day to start the march toward things we’d like to accomplish I think today might be it. So with that in mind I did a little online research into Personal Strategic Planning which I will share with you in the next few blog installments… stay tuned!
